Nestled in the heart of an area of outstanding natural beauty Bellevaux-LaChèvrerie is part of l’Espace Roc d’Enfer which has been classified as a zone ‘Espace Natura 2000’. This is an initiative with the goal of preserving the natural environment.    The ski slopes are a very small part of the 4054 hectares of l’Espace Roc d’Enfer and they are in the heart of the natural forestland.  Bellevaux is linked to the ski area of St Jean D’Aulps – La Grande Terche and the slopes are from 900 to 1800 m altitude.  It is a family friendly ski station with 2 areas dedicated to beginners.    For competent skiers there are 20 pistes – a black, 9 red, 6 blues and 4 green.  The 40 kilometers of runs  have got 14 lifts.  There is a ski circuit of 20 kilometers that you can access from both St Jean and Bellevaux.     You can also enjoy walking or cross country skiing on the 18 kilometers of Nordic routes or put on your snow shoes and walk round the Lac du Vallon at La Chèvrerie.
