The resorts are amongst the most well known, including Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Abondance, Chatel and St Jean D’Aulps to name but a few.

They also offer excellent opportunities for downhill mountain bikers outside the winter months.

Chatel Ski Resort

Châtel is a lively village with perfectly preserved mountain architecture, skiing in the vast unspoiled spaces of the Portes du Soleil, with little side routes here and there that you can follow on foot, on snowshoes or on skis.

The countryside is as magnificent as the old chalets in the valley. You can be in France in the morning and in Switzerland in the afternoon, with the Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc in your sights.

From Châtel, you can enjoy the incredible skiing of the Portes du Soleil, the largest cross-border ski area in the world. On skis, on a snowboard, on foot, on cross-county skis and on snowshoes, there's fun for everyone. Châtel is in the heart of the Franco-Swiss ski domain called the Portes du Soleil. The ski domain has 48 ski slopes: 5 black, 16 red, 16 blue and 11 green with a total length of 90 km and 45 ski-lifts.

Facing full south in the Super-Châtel / Barbossine area, you will discover the snow park and area specially laid out for beginners.

It is also very convenient to reach being just an hour and a half away from the international airport at Geneva.
