Haute-Savoie - Annecy, Villy le Peloux

Welcome to The Haute Savoie, one of the many wonders of France and my home for the last 31 years. Haute-Savoie is a department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of Southeastern France, bordering both Switzerland and Italy.Annecy is the prefecture and largest city of the Haute-Savoie region. It lies on the northern tip of Lake Annecy, 35 kilometres south of Geneva. Nicknamed the “Venice of the Alps”, it is a true gem. Surrounded by the Aravis and Semnoz mountains, access to all local resorts makes for great winter sports. The lakes Leman, Annecy and Le Bourget provide a wonderful choice of summer activities, great for family and friends. There are plenty of biking and walking trails to be found around the lakes and into the surrounding hills, and for the not so faint hearted, parapenting enthusiasts fill the skies. The Château de Menthon, Chateau d’Annecy and Chateau Montrottier are just a few of many interesting medieval castles nearby. Colorful markets in Annecy old town, and the smaller villages, sell great produce from local farms in the area.
