La Rosiere in Espace San Bernardo

Etiquette mountain
Nearby ski stations :

Perched high up the valley at 1850 metres, La Rosiere de Montvalezan is a hidden gem for many people visiting the area in the heart of the Haute-Tarentaise. Developed in the 1950s from an original farming hamlet, the ski-resort has been sympathetically created from local materials of lauze, stone and wood.   The snowfall here is superb due to its location and rivals that of any of the nearby, larger, more well-known resorts. You get the best of both worlds here in La Rosiere, whilst the south-facing resort centre basks in the sunshine, the slopes maintain their condition due to their high altitude and heavy snowfalls.   The resort offers the perfect base for a family holiday or those looking for a more peaceful chalet holiday. With 150kms of piste and La Rosiere’s link with La Thuile in Italy there are slopes and off-piste to suit every skiing ability.   Situated on the Col de Petit St Bernard, you can drive or cycle over to Italy during the summer for an authentic pizza or gelato and ski over on the same road (past the road-signs!) during the winter. Once you are at the top you will have breathtaking views across to Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn and Monte Rosa. A beautiful setting for a wide range of activities with walking and cycling high on the summer agenda and along with the usual snowsports you can meet the famous St Bernard rescue dogs, “mush” your own team of huskies on a dog-sled or have a go at snow-kiting in the winter!   The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice, a town situated at the foot of La Rosiere, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. Local Airports include Lyon (approx 140km ), Geneva (130km), Chambery (80km), Grenoble (120km).
