Hotel Le Cassini lies in the heart of the Oisans, world renowned for its road cycling, glacier skiing and the Ecrins national park incorporating the Ecrins Massif. The hotel is nestled between the two main resorts of Alpe d’Huez and Les Deux Alpes which are open for almost 10 months a year. A quick look on trip adviser is testimony to the hard work, blood, sweat and tears that the current owners have invested in making this one of the finest hotels in the area.
The restaurant is also open to the public and has gained a fabulous reputation thanks to the culinary genius of Maarten the chef and co-owner with Sophia. As much of the produce as possible is organic and locally sourced in order to guarantee the freshest and healthiest possible home cooking.

The Area
Les Deux Alpes boasts the largest skiable Glacier in Europe, (the Girose Glacier) rising to an altitude of 3600m the resort is as snow sure as any resort in the world so much so that the glacier also opens in the summer for the national and youth teams from around the globe to train on as well as to the general public. For expert skiers the jewel in the crown of this particular area is La Grave, famous for its extreme off piste skiing. Les Deux Alpes also has a really well developed mountain bike community with fantastic trails. Each year it is host to the famous ‘Mountain Of Hell’ downhill competition.
Alpe d’Huez d’Huez with its legendary 21 bend road climb is host to the most famous stage of the Tour De France. This alone attracts 10’s of thousands of cycle tourists every year and almost a million people for the main event. The proximity to the many other legendary Cols make this the ideal base for cyclists, bikers, vintage car rallies and hikers. Alpe d’Huez has expanded at an altitude of 1860m on the southern flank of the Grandes Rousses Massif and rising to an altitude of 3300m. Also called “The Island in the Sunshine”, this resort enjoys an average of 300 sunny days per year and a particularly active microclimate. The ski area known is especially well known for being home to the longest run in the world, the ‘Sarenne’. In the summer Alpe d’Huez has fantastic mountain biking trails and is host to world famous events like the Mega Avalanche.

Situated only 1 hr 20 from its nearest airport, Grenoble St Geoirs, Alpe D'Huez has been appropriately named Isle de Soleil... The Island in the Sun. This purpose built resort is home to 250 kms of piste and plays host to the Tour de France cycle race as well as the famous Mega Avalanche downhill mountain bike race. Being perched at 1800 m altitude its snow record is impeccable as its pistes rise up to a formidable 3300m on the summit of Pic Blanc. It is certainly a very practical winter resort as its' centrally located leisure facilities and its cross town lifts make everywhere easily accessible.
