A charming Alpine home with privacy, space and beautiful mountain views
Situated in the village of Viclaire, within the commune of Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise, this delightful detached chalet offers a wonderful combination of comfortable family living, privacy and an enviable Alpine setting.
It comes with 4 bedrooms, a bathroom, shower room, open plan kitchen/lounge, storage room/office, double garage & an outdoor office.
With 109 m² of habitable living space and 172 m² of total surface area, the property sits within a generous 620 m² plot, with an enclosed garden extending around the house. Mature hedges, trees and shrubs create a wonderfully private setting, giving the property a real sense of seclusion despite its village location.
One of the home’s most appealing features is the connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape. Beautiful mountain views and open countryside can be enjoyed from the garden and from many of the windows, while the agricultural land immediately behind the property ensures an attractive, open outlook. The current owners have created a home that makes the most of its natural surroundings, bringing light, greenery and the Alpine landscape into everyday life.
Inside, the house has a lovely light and airy feel, with a spacious open-plan kitchen and living area providing a welcoming heart to the home. There are four bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate shower room, making it well suited to family life or hosting friends and family.
The lower level offers further practical space, including a double garage and an additional room which could be used as a home office, workshop or storage area, depending on your needs.
Outside, the garden is a real highlight. Enclosed and beautifully sheltered, it offers plenty of space to relax, entertain or simply enjoy the mountain surroundings in privacy. A particularly charming feature is the separate garden office or summer house. Equipped with electricity and lighting, it is currently used by the owners as a peaceful workspace and writing retreat. Overlooking the trees, garden and mountains, it is a lovely additional space with plenty of character.
An ideal base for enjoying the Tarentaise, summer and winter
The location is another considerable advantage. Viclaire is a traditional residential village within Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise, making it exceptionally well placed for exploring the wider Tarentaise Valley.
The Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise ski resort is approximately 10–15 minutes away by car, as is Villaroger, with access to the extensive Paradiski ski area. The renowned resorts of Tignes, Val d’Isère, La Rosière and Les Arcs are also within approximately 25 minutes by car. The Italian border is around 30 minutes away, offering the possibility of exploring Italy in summer and skiing across the border in winter.
For those who enjoy outdoor activities beyond downhill skiing, there is plenty to discover right from the doorstep. Walking and hiking trails start from the village, while a nearby cycle path, which also serves as a cross-country ski trail in winter, can be reached within minutes.
The property is also just a 10-minute drive from Bourg-Saint-Maurice, where you will find a full range of shops, services and amenities, as well as the SNCF railway station, providing convenient connections to the wider region.
The village also even has its own charming bed and breakfast with a bar and restaurant, making it easy to enjoy a meal or an aperitif without having to take the car.
Detached properties with such a generous, private enclosed garden and beautiful mountain outlook are a rare find in this area. Whether you are looking for a welcoming family home in the mountains, a permanent base in the Tarentaise or a private second home from which to enjoy some of the Alps’ best-known resorts, this is a property that ticks all of the boxes.

The legendary ski area of Espace Killy has over 300kms of marked piste and endless off-piste options - some of the most varied and exciting skiing you can find! The ski area links the two resorts of Val d'Isere and Tignes.
Val d'Isere sits at approximately 1800 metres and is a truly modern alpine village. The pretty old town of snow filled streets and Savoyard stone buildings is home to the original village church built in 1664. The resort centre is lively and vibrant, with shops, restaurants and bars to suit any budget and taste, lining the wide, spacious main-street.Every season, during summer and winter, Val d'Isere hosts all sorts of events - from Savoyard festivals or fayres show-casing local produce such as cheeses, cured meats or lace. International sporting events like the Tour de France and the World Ski Championships often stage an event here. Music festivals are often hosted during the summer and winter 2010 welcomes a stage of the World Snow Polo Masters Series!
The villages of Tignes are a little further down the valley towards Bourg St Maurice. Just like Val d'Isere, the ski area boasts wide, cruisey red runs, snow-parks for those who want to play and show off their tricks and quieter beginner areas where you can find your "skis" and build confidence - and of course immense off-piste itineraries, so much space you are bound to find untracked snow! The lively resort centre is a real haven for those looking for energetic après-ski and night-life - there are lots of bars, cafés, restaurants and night-clubs to entertain until the early hours. During the day-time there is an equal abundance of activity - the resort is just as regarded as a summer resort as it is a winter snow sports centre. You will find a superb 18-hole golf course, organised activities on the lake, skiing on the glacier, beach volleyball and football and the usual mountain biking, walking and horse-riding.
As one of the best known ski resorts in the world, Val d’Isere is a winter paradise. Linked with Tignes it makes the enormous ski area Espace Killy. There is fantastic off piste skiing on Col d’Isere and more gentle slopes for beginners between Tignes and Val d’Isere. Tignes boasts a modern funicular which will take you to the Grande Motte glacier (3030metres) which offers summer and winter skiing.
Val d’Isere has strict building regulations with an emphasis on wood and stone….. giving an air of exclusivity, it’s a pedestrian friendly resort, made up of several hamlets, each linked by a transport service. Designer boutiques are aplenty, as is the lively ambience. As well as skiing and snowboarding, swimming, ice skating, ice climbing even driving on ice are just a few of the other activities offered in the resort. The après ski choices are impressive whether you want a cosy or contemporary dining or bar experience all tastes are catered for.Val d’Isere night life is second to none; there is no excuse not to enjoy yourself! Attracting an international clientele and hosting regular world cup events.
There is no doubt that Val d’Isere is more than the average Savoie ski resort. The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice which lies at the foot of Val d’Isere, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. As can helicopter transfers from the following airports Lyon (140 km), Geneva (130km), Chambery (80km) and Grenoble (120km).
