Sainte Foy-Tarentaise is widely regarded as one of the most authentic and unspoilt resorts in the French Alps, offering a rare balance between high-quality skiing and genuine mountain charm. Set on predominantly north-facing slopes, the resort benefits from excellent snow preservation throughout the season, with skiing from 1,550 m up to 2,620 m. Unlike many purpose-built resorts, Sainte Foy has grown around traditional Savoyard hamlets, with stone and timber chalets that give the village a warm, characterful feel and a strong sense of year-round community.
The skiing appeals to a broad range of visitors. Families value the calm, uncrowded pistes, gentle beginner areas and friendly ski schools, making it an ideal environment for children and mixed-ability groups. At the same time, Sainte Foy is internationally known for its off-piste and freeride terrain, with wide open bowls, natural tree skiing and long powder descents that attract experienced skiers seeking a more adventurous and natural skiing experience. This combination of relaxed family skiing and serious off-piste is one of the resort’s key strengths.
Sainte Foy’s location in the Upper Tarentaise is another major advantage. While the resort itself remains peaceful and low-density, it is within easy reach of some of the largest ski areas in the Alps, including Val d’Isère and Tignes, Les Arcs and La Plagne, allowing owners and visitors to enjoy both tranquillity and extensive skiing from a single base. For buyers, Sainte Foy represents an increasingly sought-after alternative to larger resorts, offering charm, strong long-term appeal and excellent skiing without the crowds.

The legendary ski area of Espace Killy has over 300kms of marked piste and endless off-piste options - some of the most varied and exciting skiing you can find! The ski area links the two resorts of Val d'Isere and Tignes.
Val d'Isere sits at approximately 1800 metres and is a truly modern alpine village. The pretty old town of snow filled streets and Savoyard stone buildings is home to the original village church built in 1664. The resort centre is lively and vibrant, with shops, restaurants and bars to suit any budget and taste, lining the wide, spacious main-street.Every season, during summer and winter, Val d'Isere hosts all sorts of events - from Savoyard festivals or fayres show-casing local produce such as cheeses, cured meats or lace. International sporting events like the Tour de France and the World Ski Championships often stage an event here. Music festivals are often hosted during the summer and winter 2010 welcomes a stage of the World Snow Polo Masters Series!
The villages of Tignes are a little further down the valley towards Bourg St Maurice. Just like Val d'Isere, the ski area boasts wide, cruisey red runs, snow-parks for those who want to play and show off their tricks and quieter beginner areas where you can find your "skis" and build confidence - and of course immense off-piste itineraries, so much space you are bound to find untracked snow! The lively resort centre is a real haven for those looking for energetic après-ski and night-life - there are lots of bars, cafés, restaurants and night-clubs to entertain until the early hours. During the day-time there is an equal abundance of activity - the resort is just as regarded as a summer resort as it is a winter snow sports centre. You will find a superb 18-hole golf course, organised activities on the lake, skiing on the glacier, beach volleyball and football and the usual mountain biking, walking and horse-riding.
As one of the best known ski resorts in the world, Val d’Isere is a winter paradise. Linked with Tignes it makes the enormous ski area Espace Killy. There is fantastic off piste skiing on Col d’Isere and more gentle slopes for beginners between Tignes and Val d’Isere. Tignes boasts a modern funicular which will take you to the Grande Motte glacier (3030metres) which offers summer and winter skiing.
Val d’Isere has strict building regulations with an emphasis on wood and stone….. giving an air of exclusivity, it’s a pedestrian friendly resort, made up of several hamlets, each linked by a transport service. Designer boutiques are aplenty, as is the lively ambience. As well as skiing and snowboarding, swimming, ice skating, ice climbing even driving on ice are just a few of the other activities offered in the resort. The après ski choices are impressive whether you want a cosy or contemporary dining or bar experience all tastes are catered for.Val d’Isere night life is second to none; there is no excuse not to enjoy yourself! Attracting an international clientele and hosting regular world cup events.
There is no doubt that Val d’Isere is more than the average Savoie ski resort. The Eurostar offers a regular service to Bourg Saint Maurice which lies at the foot of Val d’Isere, from here a taxi transfer can be arranged. As can helicopter transfers from the following airports Lyon (140 km), Geneva (130km), Chambery (80km) and Grenoble (120km).
